About Jim Boardman
James Boardman, CDC – Chief Dot Connector
Jim Boardman is a founding partner of Venue Logic. Mr. Boardman’s network of connections throughout Chicagoland’s off premise events community is a recipe for success and accomplishment.
He formerly held the position of managing partner for Taste America Catering and Boardman’s Urban Kitchen, overseeing responsibility for menu development and quality control for 28 years. In addition, he supervised over 150 employees including the chefs, managers and sales force of Taste America Catering, as well as Boardman’s Urban Kitchen, Cityfront455 Lounge, Pops for Champagne, The Tasting Room, Broadway in Chicago, the Park District, Columbia Yacht Club, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, North and Clark Café and the newly-renovated Chicago History Museum’s liquor program and over100 other off-premise catering locations. He also advised on many new developments such as Millennium Park, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Venue One and the Bridgeport Art Center.
The self-starter continues to develop various catering venues, restaurants, catering companies, presentations and theme events. He gained invaluable experience and industry insight while working at several restaurants, catering companies and bakeries. Mr. Boardman founded “Chefs for the Cure” with the H Foundation in 2010, following his own victory against life-threatening cancer and is a 10 year veteran board member of the Garfield Park Conservatory.
Some say, Mr. Boardman travelled through “school of hard knocks” starting as an apprentice baker when he was 12 years old, but the affable professional chalks it all up to “a journey through life’s rich tapestry – all passes culinary art alone endures.” He currently resides in LaGrange with his wife Meg (D.D.S.) and daughters Claire, 19, and Eleanor, 17.
