Inviting Dog Guests To Your Special Events

Dog at wedding

If you have ever entertained the idea of including the family dog at your wedding or puppies at the surprise party you’re hosting, you’re not alone.

Dogs can be magnets for excitement among guests– they provide the best photo ops and add the perfect touch to any meaningful event.  Including a dog at your special event can become a reality; however, you must plan ahead.  Rover.com has some advice for enjoying your dog guests at your next event.

What kind of event are you planning?

A wedding celebration, anniversary party, or family reunion could be the perfect opportunity to invite those important dog guests.  A family dog brings special meaning to the celebration and can be incorporated into the festivities as a ring bearer, photo booth friend, or an entertainer with special tricks.  Make sure the dog you’re inviting is friendly in crowds and enjoys all kind of people.  Even if you have the best-trained dog at home, a big event can be overwhelming for some dogs.  Your pup may not be the right fit for every kind of event depending on the mood you’re intending for your guests.

Keep in mind, dogs can be unpredictable.  Consider the kind of dog that’s right for the job.  An older or well-trained dog may make a better ring bearer at the wedding than your new puppy.  However, puppies may play a different role.  A pack of puppies may be a sweet surprise for an important birthday or mitzvah celebration.  They can be involved in games if you have the right venue and can manage any accidents with ease.

With a little creativity, you don’t have to exclude them from your invitation list!
