What makes a venue “perfect”?
Chicago is scattered with thousands of event venues. How do you know which is the perfect Chicago venue for YOU? There are a few major factors to think about when searching for the perfect fit:
1. It works within your budget
Budget should always be the first thing that you do when planning an event.
There are a variety of different types of venues out there; from size to location, from on-premise to off-premise. There are a handful of factors that determine the right price of your perfect chicago venue. It is important to understand what types of venues exist so that you can set your venue budget to reflect that type.
There are 2 main types of venues:
When you hear “on-premise” think “banquet hall”. These venues have tables, chairs, food, beverage, linen, etc. included in the price. The downside to this style is the limited flexibility of options & choices.
“Off-premise venue” is a term used for venues that require all food, rentals, and staff to arrive onsite the day of the event. Some off-premise venues provide tables, chairs, security, parking, etc. in their venue pricing. When planning a wedding, this style of venue is ideal for those who want a truly customized event.
All of the venues we manage fall into the off-premise category. This style typically ranges from $3,000 – $10,000 (in the Chicago region).
2. It fits the size of your guest count
Finding a venue is the starting point when planning an event but before you can consider your options, it is important to have an idea of how many guests will be attending your event. Your guest count will determine not only the size of venue, but the cost of your beverage/bar, catering, rentals, etc.
3. Location. Location. Location.
Do you want your event held in the heart of the city amongst the hustle and bustle, hotels, and coffee shops, or on the outskirts of the city where there is access to the outdoors and plenty of free parking for your guests? When deciding on the perfect Chicago venue, consider what will be convenient for you and your guests.
4. It complements your personal style
Are you the vintage chic type or more traditional? Do you prefer a clean, blank canvas as a backdrop or an event space with lots of character? A venue should reflect your personality and style. If your company’s brand is clean and modern, a clean, modern venue interior for a product launch would complement the brand. If your personal style is more rustic and wildflowers will be the centerpieces for your wedding, a venue with exposed brick and reclaimed wood accents would be an ideal fit.
